Weeknote 3

Weeknote 3
Gorleston, Norfolk
  • This week i've been reminded of the phrase that 'the difference between theory and practice is that in theory there is no difference'
  • This week has also reminded me that constructive, positively framed conflict is often neccesary for progress, which reminds me of the https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Five_Dysfunctions_of_a_Team book, and the dysfunction of 'Fear of Conflict'
  • Had a pretty heavy work week, which was rounded off by some coaching, which was actually a really useful opportunity to get out of my own head to ensure i was focusing on my client. The opportunity (and hopefully ability) to help others is a gift in every sense of the word.
  • I continued to embed my practice of bullet journalling, which i am still finding very useful. Specifically tracking habits, tracking and prioritising actions, and end of the day journalling to process things and get them out of my head and on to paper. I keep expecting to fall out of doing this, but > 3 weeks in and it feels like a habit is forming.
  • Ran my first ever Park Run this weekend, at Gorleston. really enjoyed running with others, though i kept having to tell myself to run my own run and not get carried away. Managed to do a new (post achilles injury) Personal Best, which was not my intention, but i felt good and kept pushing. really enjoyed the atmosphere and very appreciative and blown away by all the volunteers that make it happen every week, all across the country.
  • I've continued reading and reflecting on Non-Violent Communication, understanding what it is and how i might work it into my work and personal life, you know, so i can better deal with all the f-ing idiots, thats what its all about, isn't it?
  • I managed to squeeze some time in to continue to make tenative steps in learning how to use my Digitone 2. I feel like i need to just have a day just focused on using it, i'm pretty sure i've only retained about 10 minutes of info in the hour i spent reading the manual and turning knobs.
